Passport needed for domestic flights in USA

Passport needed for domestic flights in USA?
I'm Canadian but live on the US border, so I fly out of Buffalo all the time to other US destinations. Will I need a passport to fly since I am a foreigner?

They have passes for people who frequently cross the border which may be of benefit to you, I don't know if you can use them for air travel. For crossing the border, you have another year but for air you have a couple weeks. The proposed implementation timeline has two phases: Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable. As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

within the U.S. you need to show acceptable photo ID. If you can provide this without a passport...you are OK...because you don't go through immigration on US-within-US flights. But you do need sufficient and acceptable government issued photo ID not expired.

Yes, as of today, you will need a passport to enter the US. Too bad because relations with Canada have always been pretty good. As of the first of this month, any air or sea travel to or from the US will require a passport. US citizens going to Canada in a vehicle will need identification, however, to get back in to the US, they will need a passport.
