Crossing border from Niagara Falls to New York

Crossing border from Niagara Falls to New York?
We plan on visiting Niagara Falls on a Sunday and stay long enough until the 10pm fireworks then head back to Buffalo Airport in New York. Are the borders open 24 hours a day? How much time usually would it take to cross that border and arrive in Buffalo Airport? We need to be at the airport by 3 am because our flight is at 6 am. Also, any other tips on crossing border to and from Canada? Thanks!

The main border crossings are open 24 hours a day. Depending on traffic and how particular the customs agents are expect around an hour to cross the border. Going into Canada is a piece of cake and should not give you hope about crossing back into the US. Also make sure you have the required documents to get back into the US. You'll need passports or drivers licenses and birth certificates.

The border is open 24-7, every day of the year. They can't close down and prohibit people from coming to the country. It really depends on the traffic. At that time of night, er.... morning, there shouldn't be a wait at the border, so it should go very quickly. If you want to get to the Buffalo airport at 3 am, you should cross the border at about 2:30 am.

Bring some type of photo ID that is govt issued for all occupants of the car and a proof of citizenship. As for 24 hours yes all border crossings around the area are 24 hours. at 3am it should be a 10 minute wait if that most of the time at peak day a 30 min wait max there will be a minimal to no wait.
